Purchasing a monument (headstone) should be a process that provides comfort and peace. We are happy to answer any questions you may have. We will listen to your needs and provide you with the memorial that meets your expectations, budget, taste and style.

GETTING STARTED

Purchasing a memorial is a unique experience. You are making decisions that will endure for generations. Very often, those decisions must represent the varied wishes and opinions of family members

Step 1
Determine the requirements and regulations of your cemetery. Many cemeteries have monument size and shape requirements based on the number of graves a family owns. Some cemeteries have specific requirements on the instillation of monuments, while some cemeteries require a collar (Mt. Vernon, Atchison, KS) others may require a certain style such as bronze markers (Sunset Memory Gardens Atchison, KS). Step 2
Selecting the color of granite for your memorial. Granite color varies depending on where it was quarried. We import granite from all over the world and offer a selection of beautiful granite colors from North America.

To make a memorial design your family’s personal tribute to a loved one, please consider several important questions:

1) What shape of stone do you prefer?
2) What design elements should your memorial feature?
3) Would you like to inscribe a family saying or religious verse?
4) What other personal elements are important for your memorial?

GRANITE COLORS

These are but a small sampling of the many different granites used here in this area. Although we have access to all the granite colors the monument industry offers, the colors shown here are the ones stocked, in various sizes and styles, in our inventory. Granites ranging from gray, to green, to blue, even multi colored with a swirling effect, can be found in most cemeteries. Some granites are quarried here in the USA while others are imported from overseas. All of these are monument grade quality and fully guaranteed.

VASES

Vases are a wonderful, permanent accent to a monument. Vases can match the granite color or can be a complementary color. Turned vases are traditional, however, many shapes and finishes are possible even providing the option of being engraved themselves to highlight a memorial.

COMMON QUESTIONS

DOES LETTERING AND ENGRAVING COST EXTRA?

Depending on the type of memorial you choose, there is no extra cost for lettering or design components. There are very few exceptions such as lettering the back of an upright tablet, on-site lettering at time of need, or laser portrait and artistic etchings. Generally, standard sandblasted designs are included in the cost of the memorial.

HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO COMPLETE THE MEMORIAL?

Completion times for each individual memorial may vary due to several factors. For instance certain special shapes or imported granites may take 90 to 120 days to receive at our production facility. Sometimes inclement weather can play a factor, be it rain or snow.

We strive to put our customer’s needs above all else. If we indeed have the granite on hand in our inventory, we aim for a 7 to 10 week turnaround from approval of the final design to installation in the cemetery.

CAN I DESIGN MY MONUMENT ANY WAY I WANT OR AM I LIMITED TO WHAT CAN BE ON IT?

You are only limited by two things when designing a memorial: The overall size of the granite and your imagination. From the most elaborate components and font styles to the most simple and elegant design choices, we can guide you in choosing the right components to reflect the life and memory of your loved ones. Occasionally, cemetery regulations may place limitations or restrictions on memorialization options. We will help verify these details.

SHOULD I USE YEARS ONLY OR MONTH, DAY AND YEAR?

This is strictly a personal choice; listing the full date of birth and passing gives more complete information for future generations, but the choice is yours.

CAN I REVIEW THE PROOF OF MY MONUMENT BEFORE IT IS ENGRAVED?

Yes! We will provide you with a computer drawing, of your monument, for your approval prior to engraving.

WHAT COLOR GRANITE IS AVAILABLE?

Granite color ranges from gray, green, pink, black and many more. These colors can be viewed in our colors tab, but we suggest taking a walk through a local cemetery to find a color and shade that you like best, take a photo and send it to us and we can help you with identifying the color.
